Trash. Of all the things I hate, the worst and the most is TRASH. I get so peeved at the sight of overflowing garbage containers, pieces of trash lying around the floor and useless junk all stacked up in a corner.

Sometime last year, way back in that old unit we used to occupy, I got into a confrontation with our neighbor about their trash that would often get blown over to our place. They were such trashy people! I would clean up the front of our home every night before going to bed and when I wake up the next morning, there would be trash everywhere because stray cats had rummaged thru the trash bags they left outside their door the night before. I texted the lady who paid the rent for the said unit to inform her about the problem, since was never around to supervise her occupants living in that unit. But she never replied to my text messages. I called her thru her cell phone, but she would never pick up the call. The worst incident was when my kids called my attention about a used pantyliner that was lying right in front of our doorstep…. AARGGHH! That was so disgusting!!!! And that was when I finally blew my top. The lady lessee happened to be around when I confronted one of her occupants about their trash, and we had a severe exchange of words.

Anway, now that we have moved into another home, I am currently faced with the same dilemma.  We have new neighbors.  They just moved in about two weeks ago.  And this is a view of their trash right in front of our garage….

Such an eyesore, isn’t it?

A couple of days after they moved in, I requested them to put their trash away, and suggested that they could watch out for the garbage collector truck that comes by every Tuesdays and Fridays.  But nothing happened.  Last Friday, I called their attention again about the trash, and the woman I talked with seemed to pay no attention to my concern.

Will someone please tell me now, what’s next?

That’s their trash you walk by right before you step into our place.  I just don’t understand how some people can just stand displaying their trash everywhere!  Honestly, it drives me crazy!

    Hi Emz,

Definitely disgusting! Unfortunately no action has been made as of this writing so I’m hiring some people to get them (trash) out this weekend. Thanks for dropping by!

You’ve tried talking to them, it seems, twice and made no progress. In order to maintain good relations, do you think it would make any difference if you offered to help clean up her trash? Make a time together to do it; maybe since she just moved there, she’s feeling overwhelmed and unable to get to it. I’m trying to give your trashy neighbor the benefit of the doubt. I once had a terrible neighbor; I tried being nice to her no matter what she did and she eventually turned around (and moved soon thereafter!). I try the nice route first. If that doesn’t work, then I call the authorities, as it could be a health hazard. Hope this helps you!

Hi Keli, thanks for the advice!

I really wanted to speak to the renter of the house next door, but they never seem to be around. They have 3 househelps, the last of whom I was able to speak with last night to inform them that we’re moving the stuff out today. This househelp said to go ahead to have them moved, so I guess that’s a go signal from them, right? Actually, it looked to me like she just didn’t want to do it herself!
