Last March the 5th, we visited my father’s grave at Himlayang Pilipino. It was my father’s birthday. If he were alive, he would have turned 76 years old. My dad passed away on July 20, 1996 at the age of 64. It has now been 12 years since he’s been gone. I still miss him a lot. He was a strict father, but he was a very, very wise man. He taught me so many things about life, that his voice still echoes in my mind every now and then. On his death anniversary last July, I wrote a post about him entitled "I miss you Dad" where I reminisced a few of my experiences with him when he was still with us.
My father, Manuel Amoranto Ramirez, a.k.a. "Ram Ramirez", was an amazing writer. He also used the pen name "Noel Idanan" in some of his creations. He wrote novels for various Filipino comics. He used to write for Atlas Publishing, and Graphic Arts Service, Inc., where he was considered one of the “fifteen genius (who) were born to create characters and masterpieces of their craft.”
Dad was also screenplay writer for some movies that made actors like Dolphy, Nino Mulach and Ramon Zamora and Rey Malonzo famous in the field of acting. Remember the once popular series “Charlie’s Angels”? My dad wrote the Filipino version, which he called “Dolphy’s Angels”, the movie that launched new actresses who also became famous later on, like Carmi Martin, Anna Marie Gutierrez, Liz Alindogan and Yehlen Catral. I found some of the movies that he had written, enlisted in imdb.com site…
I’M PROUD OF YOU DAD!
Dolphy’s Angels (1980) Bruce Liit (1978)
Hepe (1980) Ang Hari at ang Alas (1978)
Here are some photos we took while we were at the beautiful Himlayang Pilipino Memorial Park…
….always a proud daughter….
