Psalm 116

I love the lord because He has heard my voice and my supplications; He has inclined His ear to me.  What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?  I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His people.  Praise the Lord!

Promise: The Lord hears our prayers.  v2 “Because He has inclined His ear to me…”

Command: Accept God’s salvation.  v13 “I will take up the cup of salvation”

Warning:  Apart from the Lord, we are surrounded by the pains of death, trouble and sorrow.  v3 “The pains of death surrounded me, and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow”

Application

Lord God You are awesome, magnificent, You are the Maker of all, I will never ever be able to repay You for all the blessings in this life.  Thank You so much, dear God!  I take the cup of salvation, and trust in You alone in every situation.  Send forth Your Holy Spirit, Lord that I may live continually in the attitude of prayer and praise, and glorify Your Name to all in this lifetime!

Psalm 116: 12-14 “What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?  I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the Lord.  I will pay my vows to the Lord Now in the presence of all His people.”

Psalm 112
Praise the Lord.  Blessed are those who fear the Lord.  The righteous will never be shaken, the wicked will see and be vexed, and their longings will come to nothing.

Promise
v1 "Blessed are those who fear the Lord"

Command
Live a righteous life
v6  "Surely the righteous will never be shaken"

Warning
v10 "The wicked will see and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth and waste away, the longings of the wicked will come to nothing"

Application

Evil tidings are problems, bad news and negative situations that I often find myself wasting my emotions on day after day.  Lord, You are a Great God, I trust in You, I fear the Lord, and I am blessed!  Today, and everyday, I lift up to You every second, every minute and moment to glorify You, dear God, instead of allowing the "evil tidings" to overwhelm my life.   Thank You for this new day, oh God!

Psalm 112: 6-7 "Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord."

Psalm 108
My heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul.  Be exalted O God, above the heavens, let Your glory be over the earth.  Save us and help us with your right hand, give us aid against the enemy for human help is worthless.  With God we will gain the victory.

Psalm 109
My God whom I praise, do not remain silent for people who are wicked and deceitful.  May their sins always remain before the Lord, that he may blot out their name from the earth.  But You Sovereign Lord, help me for your names sake.  I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me, save me accordking to Your unfailing love.  May my accusers be clothed with disgrace.  With my mouth I will greatly  extol the Lord, for He stands at the right hand of the needy to save their lives from those who would condemn them.

Promise
God’s promise to protect
Ps 108:13 "With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies"
Ps 109:31  "For he stands at the right hand of the needy, to save their lives from those who would condemn them."

Command
Praise and Worship the Lord!
Ps 109:30  "With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord’ in the great thong of worshipers I will praise Him"

Warning
In sin you are forgotten forever.
Ps 109:15  "May their sins always remain before the Lord, that He may blot out their name from the earth"

Application

In Psalm 109 David persevered in giving praise and worship to the Lord in spite of all the pain, the ridicule he endured, and all the evil that surrounded him.  David’s hope in the Lord was undying. Let me be like David, o Lord, ever faithful to You, against all the odds that I may cross today, for I am certain You are always present for all who call on You, and You will deliver us from any danger that may come along the way.  All praise to You, Almighty Father!

Psalm 109:30-31 "With my mouth I will greatly extol the LORD; in the great throng I will praise him. For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him."

Psalm 107

Message
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever.  Let the redeemed tell their story.  Some sat in darkness, because they rebelled against God’s commands, they stumbled and there was no one to help.  They cried to the Lord, and he saved them from their distress. He turned the dessert into pools of water, he brought the hungry to live.  Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.

Promise
God’s love for us is unfailing, and he does wonderful deeds for mankind
v31 "Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind"

Command
Give thanks to the Lord!

Warning
When you rebel against God’s command, you will stumble, and there’s no one to help, suffer afflicion because of your iniquities.

Application
Sometimes I don’t have a thankful heart.  Sometimes, I am proud, self-satisfied, busy, angry, and other times I have a sad and heavy heart to give thanks to the Lord.  Psalm 107 reminds me that everytime I cried out, the Lord delivered me. the Lord redeemed me… yes, and I thank You God, for Your unfailing love!   Lord, let me be the wise person, to always remember all that You have done for me in this life , and to keep an ever grateful heart.  Glorify the Lord!

Ps 107:43  "Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord."
